i once was shy
but now mostly idgaf.
Hey there! I’m Rayna. A few of you might know me as a TV chef on the show Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street on U.S. public television (now fortified with an Emmy®!). People often tell me I have natural confidence about me, a powerful presence, an infectious playful streak. I’ve come to accept these things as true — but it wasn’t always that way.
As a kid, I was painfully shy: glasses and pigtails and pimples, my nose buried in a book, afraid of saying the wrong thing (or anything), my heart filled with fear and doubt and yearning. I was curious, intelligent, talented; but also deeply ashamed of who I was inside.
It took time and work and a lot of very messy falls, but I slowly became more aware of myself, started learning to love myself a little more, and eventually began boldly sharing my true self — my mad, mischievous, weird, quirky, kickass self — with the world.
Now I provide for others what I always wish I’d had: the permission, safety, and guidance to playfully overcome emotional fear and confidently enjoy life as the glorious being you really are. Sometimes there’s even food involved.
